World Villa Awards recognises the quality of the complete villa experience. Entries are considered within their category, taking account of the property, service or destination being nominated.

Our assessment focuses on six areas:

Quality and comfort

The standard of accommodation, design, facilities and maintenance, and how well they meet guests’ needs.

Service and hospitality

The care, professionalism and personal attention guests receive, from their first enquiry through to the end of their stay.

Guest experience

How well the experience delivers on its promises, supported by guest feedback, consistency and attention to detail.

Character and sense of place

What makes the villa or experience distinctive, including its setting, architecture, privacy and connection to the destination.

Excellence within the category

How well the entry fulfils the particular award’s focus. A family villa, for example, should demonstrate suitability for families, while a wellness villa resort should offer a strong wellbeing experience.

Responsible operation

Practical measures to care for the environment, support local communities and provide accurate information to guests.

Criteria are applied according to the entry. Villa rental companies are considered for the quality of their portfolio, booking service and guest support. Destinations are considered for the strength and variety of their villa offering and the visitor experience.

Assessment draws on entry information and available supporting evidence. Recognition relates to the named category and award year; it does not constitute an inspection, accreditation or certification.

A private villa, a villa within a resort and a villa rental company offer different experiences. Category descriptions explain the scope of each award and help visitors understand the recognition.
